Learn the Accessible Circus Paradigm
Holistic Circus Therapy offers training in its unique and pioneering method through a variety of intensive workshops and seminars that provide the applicable knowledge and tangible tools needed to incorporate accessible circus activities into educational, recreational, and therapeutic settings. These seminars and intensive workshops are suitable for all therapists, aides, students and educators who seek to empower people with varying cognitive, physical, social, and emotional needs through their work. Nonprofessional individuals who are interested in either the recreational or therapeutic course for personal knowledge without obtaining a certification are also welcome to attend. No prior circus experience necessary.
Training will cover and impart the following learnings:
â— Theory & Conceptual Foundations: Gain awareness of the different types of circus that exist and how circus is being used as a social intervention and community building tool worldwide to enhance the acquisition of 'life skills'. Explore how circus can be used in a way that mirrors other evidenced based practices widely used within educational and therapeutic settings.
â— Technique: Acquire the techniques to teach acrobalance, juggling, balanced based activities, tumbling, and clowning to participants with varying physical, cognitive, and social capacities. Learn how to break down tasks into achievable components that make the circus experience intrinsically motivating, putting the client in the driver’s seat of their own educational or therapeutic process.
â— Program Management: The HCT Method addresses this by focusing on pre and post evaluation methods. Attendees will leave with the knowledge and tools needed to plan, execute, and evaluate circus workshops for individuals and groups with diverse learning needs.
